Since 1980, Don has been helping small- to medium-sized businesses, government agencies and educational institutions implement technology for improved productivity. Today, with partner Dan Charland, Don spearheads the management of NetCenergy as it provides computer network design, installation and support to clients in a wide array of industries.
Under Don's leadership, the company has received many accolades. In 2006, NetCenergy received the inaugural Citizens Bank Peak Performance Award, recognizing a business that has exhibited extraordinary growth and demonstrated values consistent with the Citizens Credo of commitment to customers, colleagues, and community. As a result, Don authored a guest article in Providence Business News entitled the Seven Steps to Peak Performance.
Committed to his healthcare clients and the healthcare of the small business community, Don is also an integral member of the WellCare Advisory Commission, a group of small business owners, Direct Pay subscribers, employer organizations, health insurance brokers, consumer advocates and labor unions. In addition, he serves on the board of directors of the Rhode Island Business Group on Health.
Active in the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, Don spearheaded the Extreme Technology Makeover, an exciting 2006 summer promotion that provided one Chamber member with $15,000 in hardware. The program worked as a partnership between NetCenergy <http://www.netcenergy.com/>, Microsoft and Hewlett Packard.
Don's career included major stints at Tandy Corporation's Business Products Division, CORE Business Technologies and Millenium Solutions Group. At Tandy, he implemented a business plan and managed a team of over 100 sales and technical representatives from Radio Shack's chain of sixteen centers in New England. At CORE, he developed the sales-marketing-technical services plan that resulted in an organization starting with just one system engineer that grew to a multi-million dollar, 45-person division. At Millennium Solutions Group, he improved the company's previous performance resulting in Compoint posting over $10MM in sales in 2002.
Don has achieved his Certified Novell Salesperson (CNS), Microsoft Sales Specialist (MSS) and Cisco Sales Expert (CSE), certifications. He was one of twelve Altiris Dealers nationwide to serve on the Altiris dealer council. Don founded the Southern New England Network Users Group, the official Novell and Microsoft users groups for Southern New England.
Over the years, Don has remained active in technical and local communities, serving on several education-technology committees including the Gilbert Stuart School, Seekonk High School, and the Dighton Rehoboth Regional School technology committees. He was elected school committee member serving, as board chairman for two years.
Professionally, he is a member of the New England Institute of Technology's Curriculum Advisory Board and a member of the Exeter Job Corps Academy steering committee.
