Donald Nokes has over 30 years experience helping small to medium sizes businesses, government agencies, and educational institutions implement technology for improved productivity. Today, with partners Dan Charland and Peter Nelson, Don spearheads the management of NetCenergy as it provides computer and network support to clients in a wide array of industries.
Prior to co-founding NetCenergy, Don worked for Tandy Corporation's Business Products Division, CORE Business Technologies and Millennium Solutions Group. At Tandy, he implemented a business plan and managed a team of over 100 sales and technical representatives from Radio Shack's chain of sixteen centers in New England. At Core, he developed the sales-marketing-technical services plan that resulted in an organization starting with just one system engineer that grew to a multi-million dollar, 45-person division. At Millennium Solutions Group, he improved the company's previous performance resulting in Compoint posting over $10MM in sales in 2002.
Don is an active member in the healthcare community and specializes in advising clients in the healthcare arena about maximizing efficiencies through the use of technology. He is a member of the Rhode Island Business Group on Health Executive Board, the RI Office of the Health Insurance Commissioners’ HealthPact Advisory Committee, the RI Lieutenant Governors’ Small Business Advocacy Council and the healthcare subcommittee, and a member of the IT Steering Committee for RIQI Currentcare project. Don also is an annual participant in the Small Business Summit meeting, has been active in several local education-technology committees, and has authored guest columns in the Providence Business News.
Daniel Charland, Chief Executive Officer
Dan Charland is a founder and Chief Executive Officer of NetCenergy. Today, with partners Don Nokes and Peter Nelson, Dan spearheads the business development and strategic relationships effort for the company, assisting his clients to identify and implement the appropriate IT infrastructure to support their business goals.
Prior to founding NetCenergy, Dan worked with EMC, Data General, Marketechs, and CORE Business Technologies. Dan was also responsible for helping drive the sales volume that helped Compoint post record sales growth in IT during an especially challenging time in the industry.
In conjunction with co-founder and NetCenergy President Don Nokes, NetCenergy has accepted many accolades. In 2006, NetCenergy received the inaugural Citizens Bank Peak Performance Award, recognizing a business that has exhibited extraordinary growth and demonstrated values consistent with the Citizens Credo of commitment to customers, colleagues, and community.
Dan attended Boston University and holds technical and sales certifications from Microsoft, , Cisco, HP/Compaq, Veritas and other industry-leading vendors.
Peter Nelson, Chief Technology Officer
Peter Nelson, Chief Technology Officer of NetCenergy, has over 15 years experience in the technology arena and has been with NetCenergy since he co-founded the firm in 2003. Today, with partners Don Nokes and Dan Charland, Peter spearheads the development of technology offerings and products for NetCenergy clients and directs the team of NetCenergy professionals, supporting and monitoring their technical trainings and certifications.
Prior to founding NetCenergy, Peter worked in Boston at Wentworth Institute of Technology as an Assistant LAN/WAN Administrator while pursuing a degree in Electronic Engineering. Peter honed his skills in network engineering and hardware technologies as a Corporate Technician for CompUSA for two years and later in a leadership position at Compoint for five years where he played a significant role in the expansion of Compoint to a multi-million dollar organization.
Peter attended the University of Rhode Island, Berklee College of Music, and Rhode Island School of Design and holds several professional certifications from VMWare, Microsoft, Altiris, Apple, and HP/Compaq as well as his A+ certification.
Jack Simpson, Vice President of Sales
Jack Simpson has over 30 years of marketing, operations, and sales and business development experience helping clients grow exponentially. Today, as Vice President of Sales, he heads up the sales organization and helps NetCenergy’s clients implement the appropriate IT infrastructure to support their business goals.
Prior to joining NetCenergy, Jacks career included general management positions with complete P&L responsibility for divisions of major national and international public and privately owned companies. His management expertise encompasses building, leading and growing successful worldwide direct and indirect sales, marketing and customer service organizations, as well as revenue generating strategic alliances and business partnerships. Jack has held Vice President of Sales and Business Development positions in the Telecommunications, Internet, IT Services and Software industries and has developed an expertise building successful worldwide sales, service and marketing organizations with a proven track in significant customer’s growth and revenue.
Jack, a graduate of LaSalle College in Philadelphia, is the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors for RI Quonset Development Corporation and Vice Chairman of the planning board for the town of East Greenwich, RI. He also holds sales certifications from VMWare and Symantec.
