Three small businesses in Rhode Island were recognized yesterday at a Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce breakfast as the first winners of the Citizens Bank Peak Performance Awards.  NetCenergy, of Warwick, the top winner, was started three years ago by Donald Nokes, who runs the computer network server solutions business with chief executive Daniel Charland.  The company has grown to 210 clients.
While companies often create a business plan to solidify relationships and empower employees, NetCenergy's principals Don Nokes and Dan Charland believe these principles are the foundation of their growth and success:

1.        Forge strong personal relationships with your customers and business partners based on honesty and integrity at every turn.

2.        Build your staff into a team of highly competent and motivated professionals with the same high standards you possess.  Don't compromise.

3.        Create and implement individual development plans to ensure the personal happiness and professional success of each employee.

4.        Solve your customers' big-picture challenges, not merely their immediate needs.  Be budget-minded to get clients from what they need now to where they want to go.

5.        Don't be afraid of competition. Learn to thrive on it and seek out opportunities to cooperate with competitors rather than compete with them.

6.        Give back to your community by sharing your time and expertise in charitable and civic endeavors where you can make a difference.

7.        Embrace networking in a meaningful way to establish and reinforce your connections. Actively work your memberships to garner return on your investment.

The Warwick-based computer network solutions company was presented with the inaugural award at the Greater Providence Chamber's Business-Over-Easy Breakfast on November 14th.  It recognized a business that has exhibited extraordinary growth and demonstrated values consistent with the Citizens Credo of commitment to customers, colleagues, and community.

Founded in 2003, NetCenergy provides computer network design, installation and support to clients in industries including healthcare, banking and finance, sports and entertainment, and e-commerce, often addressing critical compliance issues stemming from HIPAA and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
